Birthday baby sessions are completely tailored to your child and the way you’d like to celebrate this milestone.
For some families, this means a simple, clean setup, using one or two colour palettes with time for outfit changes, focusing on your baby’s expressions, personality, and stage of development.
For others, the session centres around a cake smash experience.
A cake smash can be included as part of your session if you choose — allowing your baby time to explore, taste, and interact with their cake in their own way. Some babies dive straight in, others prefer to investigate more gently, and both approaches are completely normal.
Cake smash sessions can be styled simply with colour, or designed around a specific theme. Depending on the collection you choose, this may be followed by a splash or clean-up bath, offering a lovely opportunity for additional playful images.
If a cake smash doesn’t feel right for your baby, it doesn’t need to be included at all. Many families choose to focus purely on portraits, keeping the session calm and understated.
The structure and elements of your session are guided by the collection you select, and everything is planned in advance so your session feels relaxed and enjoyable on the day.
Custom made photo backdrop
For something truly one-of-a-kind, custom memory backdrops are available as an optional addition to your Birthday Baby session. Clients are invited to send through 20–30 favourite images from their baby’s first year, which are thoughtfully designed into a bespoke backdrop created especially for your photoshoot. This personalised backdrop becomes part of your session and is then yours to take home afterwards — a meaningful keepsake that tells the story of your baby’s first year in one beautiful piece.
